Travelling and the feeling of being at home is whole different experience together. In the December,2017 I had traveled to White Runn of Kutchh,Gujarat and stayed at Kutir Kraft home stay at Hodko Village [14 Km from White Runn where Runn Utsav hold].Staying at the resort near to White run is more expensive and one can opt to stay at nearby villages.
The Hodko village was chosen by UNDP under the rural development through tourism. The core is self-sustenance by running a place for livelihood and promoting the local culture and craft.
Located on the main road leading to Great Runn of Kutchh, Kutir Kraft is budget place which offers a typical village style ambiance and architecture.
I stayed at kutchi Bhunga [mud rooms] made with eco-friendly materials like clay and wood. The home stay has 10 AC and Non AC Bhungas. It is decorated with mirror work, local textiles and handicrafts. It is a perfect place to experience quiet and rustic rural life.
Tariff: starting from INR 3500 per night. It is the cheapest available rates as compared to other home stays near White Rann.
You can enjoy the delicious homely cooked meal from the helpful staff of the home stay. Tariff comes with all three meals inclusive option as like other home stays/resorts of Kutch.
Gaganbhai and his entire staff were warm and friendly and they helped us in everything we wanted. On next day, we have to leave early at 8 Am and they kept ready breakfast and tea before time!!
Highlight of my stay:
The most amazing part of staying at Kutir Kraft is their owner- Khalubhai whose hospitality was at par. I have learnt few life lessons during my conversations with him. He was very keen to take us at his home to show the true village life and how they make handicrafts. I also recommend visiting his handicraft shop to buy few souvenirs. I must say, people of this region are untouched by professionalism.
